Consumer Reports: New iPad Can Reach 116 Degrees While Gaming; Apple Responds - powellhinion
Complaints about the temperature of Orchard apple tree's unprecedented third-generation iPad are heat up, with Consumer Reports claiming that the tablet reaches temperatures of astir to 116 degrees Fahrenheit while a user plays games.
Consumer Reports' findings stick with an earliest thermal imagination test by Dutch site Tweakers, which found that the red-hot iPad reached temperatures of 92.5 degrees Gabriel Daniel Fahrenheit after five minutes of running a GLBenchmark test.
Accordant to Consumer Reports, which also put-upon spring imaging, the new iPad reached 116 degrees Fahrenheit subsequently 45 minutes of running the game Infinity Steel II. Test Results
Steady with the new iPad unplugged, information technology reached temperatures of 113 degrees Fahrenheit in Consumer Reports' thermal imaging test–13 degrees hotter than the iPad 2 while running the same test. In both tests, the heat was concentrated in one spot.
Still, information technology's unclear whether Consumer Reports will smacking the new iPad with the assonant "not advisable" rating that it bestowed upon the iPhone 4 due to the phone's antenna issues. In a blog post, Consumer Reports' Donna Tapellini didn't look too put off by the pill's temperature.
"When it was at its hottest, it felt very warm only not peculiarly warm if held for a brief geological period," Tapellini wrote.
Apple, meanwhile, has responded to the new iPad's temperature complaints with a little statement: "The new iPad delivers a stunning Retina display, A5X poker chip, support for 4G LTE plus 10 hours of battery life, all while operative well within our thermal specifications. If customers have any concerns they should adjoin AppleCare."
